X Shore electric boats to use Kreisel Electric battery packs

Swedish electric boat manufacturer X Shore has taken onboard battery provider Kreisel Electric in a five-year deal worth €50 million.

X Shore’s flagship model, the Eelex 8000, which features a 225 kW motor, will be exclusively powered by two Kreisel KBP 63 battery packs with a total capacity of 126 kWh.

Kreisel Electric says its patented modular immersion-cooled battery technology complies with the DNV marine standard, and is designed to withstand the harshest environmental conditions. It offers “unmatched longevity, superior safety and ultimate performance.” The company’s existing customer base includes commercial applications, electric motorsport, charging infrastructure and maritime solutions.

Kreisel Electric and X Shore are both working to eliminate the carbon footprint from their production processes. The battery represents a large share of the Eelex 8000’s carbon footprint. The companies will strive to source challenging materials, such as cobalt, in the most socially and environmentally responsible way, and aim to establish full traceability of the battery supply chain by 2025.

“We are delighted to be continuing our global expansion hand in hand with Kreisel Electric,” said Jenny Keisu, CEO of X Shore. “Having secured the best batteries on the market for the next five years, X Shore is here to set the course for the industry towards long-term sustainability.”

“We see X Shore as the market leader in electric leisure boating, with huge growth potential,” said Jennifer Preston, CEO of Kreisel Electric. “We are proud to supply X Shore with our patented battery technology, which enables significant benefits in terms of performance, safety, lifetime, modularity and costs.”
