Toronto Fire Services has ordered two all-electric Vector fire trucks from fire apparatus manufacturer Spartan Emergency Response, a subsidiary of the REV Group. The e-trucks were sold by authorized dealer Safetek Emergency Vehicles.
REV Fire Group introduced the Vector fire truck in August 2021. It’s equipped with 327 kWh of battery capacity, and the low battery placement results in a lower center of gravity, and thus enhanced stability while operating. REV says the Vector delivers the longest electric pumping duration in the industry, and that Toronto Fire crews will be able to accomplish their typical driving and pumping tasks exclusively on electric power. (The Vector is available with an optional diesel range extender.)
The Vector battery storage solution meets the requirements of the CAN/ULC-S515 Standard for Automobile Fire Fighting Apparatus and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1901 – Standard for Automotive Fire Apparatus, and allows for a complete NFPA-compliant pump test.
