Revel adds Kia Niro EVs to its NYC electric rideshare fleet

Brooklyn-based electric mobility and infrastructure Revel plans to diversify its EV rideshare fleet, adding 50 Kia Niro EVs to the 230 Tesla Model Ys and Model 3s it already has in service in New York City.

Revel’s first Niros will be on the road by the end of June, available to rideshare customers for pick-up and drop-off in all five boroughs, parts of northern New Jersey and the three major NYC airports.

The 2023 Kia Niro EV has an EPA-estimated 253 miles of range, which is sufficient for Revel’s rideshare drivers to run a full 8-hour shift. The Niro has a 64.8 kWh battery, and supports 100 kW DC fast charging. The Niros will charge alongside the rest of Revel’s fleet at the company’s network of public fast charging stations.

“Revel’s Teslas continue to provide a great experience for both our riders and our drivers, and they’ll remain the bulk of our fleet, but we’re excited to start adding Kia’s Niro EV and diversify our product as the electric vehicle market matures,” said Keith Williams, Revel’s VP of Rideshare Operations. “With these new EVs, we’re able to hire more New Yorkers as W2 employee drivers with benefits, provide more zero-emission rides in every borough, scale our public fast charging infrastructure and bring the city closer to Mayor Adams’s goal to fully electrify the rideshare industry by 2030.”
