Electric Era installs its first PowerNode battery-buffered EV fast charging station

Electric Era Technologies, maker of PowerNode EV fast charging stations, has announced the first of more than 10 commercial installations planned for the US this year. The new public fast charger was put into service at a Plaid Pantry convenience store in Portland, Oregon.

Electric Era Technologies was launched by former SpaceX engineers in 2019. The company aims to install 10,000 PowerNode fast chargers in the US by 2030.

“Today marks a critical milestone in our mission to bring fast charging to EV drivers when and where they need it, while delivering new revenue streams and customers to quick-service retailers across the US,” said Electric Era CEO Quincy Lee. “Our patented battery-buffer technology brings industry-leading reliability while reducing the burden on our overtaxed electrical grids.”

Electric Era’s patented AC-coupled microgrid fast charging technology combines battery and grid power in real time to distribute to EVs when they charge. The company claims its chargers typically draw around a quarter of the power compared to competing products, allowing operators to avoid expensive utility demand charges.
