DB Schenker to add 100 Mercedes-Benz eActros LongHaul trucks to its fleet

German logistics and freight transport company DB Schenker has signed a joint letter of intent with Mercedes-Benz Trucks to acquire 100 eActros LongHaul trucks for European long-distance haulage as part of DB Schenker’s goal of achieving CO2 neutrality by 2040.

According to Mercedes-Benz, the electric truck, expected to be ready for series production in 2024 following tests on public roads, has a range of around 500 km on a single charge and meets the same durability requirements as a comparable conventional long-distance Actros: 1.2 million kilometers on the road over 10 years.

The company says the truck’s three lithium-ion phosphate battery packs have a total capacity of over 600 kWh. The two electric motors of the eActros LongHaul generate a continuous output of 400 kW and a peak output of over 600 kW.

“The successive expansion of our electric fleet will enable us to pursue our objective of becoming the world’s leading provider of green logistics,” said Cyrille Bonjean, Head of Land Transport at DB Schenker Europe.
