bp pulse to expand incentives for Uber drivers to go electric

bp pulse and Uber have signed an agreement to expand their strategic partnership. The two companies began working together in 2021, when bp opened a commercial charging hub on Park Lane in London, and Uber became bp’s first ride-hailing platform partner.

Uber says that over 15% of miles driven using its service in London are all-electric, and that drivers on Uber’s platform in Europe are switching to EVs five times faster than the general population.

Uber is implementing several initiatives to help drivers go electric. The Uber Driver app includes a Charging Map that shows drivers where the nearest EV chargers are located, as well as an EV Hub where drivers can compare the cost of ownership (TCO) of an EV with that of a legacy vehicle.

Under the terms of the new agreement, bp intends to offer incentives for Uber drives to charge with bp pulse—these deals will be tailored to particular markets. The two companies will also explore working together on convenience and fuel offers.

“Drivers on Uber’s platform need access to the charging infrastructure as they make the switch to EVs,” said Richard Bartlett, CEO at bp pulse. “We’re investing in EV charging, digital products and services and large-scale bp pulse Gigahubs that will help commercial customers eliminate tailpipe emissions.”
